After earning a starting spot in his freshman season at Ohio University, Willie earned a breakout season in 2006, leading the entire Mid-American Conference (MAC) with a batting average of .377, on base percentage of .441, and slugging percentage of .571. In 2007, he repeated his elite-level hitting and defensive play, finishing with a batting average of .362, an on-base percentage of .415, and a slugging percentage of .473 while leading the Bobcats with 45 RBIs over 50 games.
